Once upon a time, there was a little girl who loved to dress up !
Wearing her Grandmothers hats, her Mothers high heels,
& her own creations.
A little girl born with glitter in her veins -
she loved anything that sparkled.
A little girl who, no matter how hard she tried,
never felt like she fitted in,
she tried so hard, to the point that no matter what she did,
she always felt different,
Then after years of trying to fit in, she gave up,
she realised some people are just not meant to fit in,
They were born to stand out.
From the age of 2 she choose what she wanted to wear,
her parents were amazed by such a visual little girl,
a child who knew her own mind & didn't mind standing up for it,
even if in hindsight blue & white polka dots & leopard print
didn't really go together quite so well afterall.
Age 6 she was sat on a bus with 4 hats piled high on top of her head, much to the amusement of the other passengers,
when told to wear one at a time,
she insisted that it looked better the way they were being worn,
she developed her own style........
Her childhood ambition was to become a Fashion designer so she enrolled at North Herts College Centre for the Arts & Studied Art & Design.
Specialising in Fashion & Textiles, her collection was featured in a charity fashion show & published in the local press.
She secured a place at the prestigious London college of Fashion (BA) hons Costume & Make up for the performing Arts,
After completing the 2nd year, she became unhappy & realised her passion was in hat design,
she left & ended up working in Retail Management for 3 years.
Then one day decided that she needed to pursue her dream of becoming a Designer or forever live with regret,
so she enrolled on a Womens enterprise group & attended business link courses, & studied a HNC Millinery at Kensington & Chelsea College
Taught by Jane Smith Theatrical Milliner for stage & screen, Caroline Morris Bridal Milliner, Ian Bennett, Kirsten Scott & Julie Rooke
Tiara specialist for The Royal Ballet.
Whilst at K&C college some of her hats were selected to be sold in Peter Jones of Sloane Square, 2 years consecutively. One was selected by Hilary Alexander & featured in The Evening Standard. That same year she was a semi finalist in the Hat Designer of the year 2004. Her debut collection formed part of The Chelsea Festival.
